How do you pray? Do you find yourself starting pra How do you pray? Do you find yourself starting prayer with a list of needs? For yourself and others? While we might feel like we are coming to God with a surrendered heart, this style of prayer is usually a one-sided conversation more akin to treating God like a child approaching Santa at the mall with their list of wants. Asking for things isn't wrong, but it shouldn't be the "first thing." Relational prayer leads to worship, which produces gratitude, which leads me to intercede for others to know God, and that sets the stage for petition, which flows out of a surrendered heart. And now…I am asking with the right motives. “Not my will, but Yours be done.” How would our prayer life ignite if we simply changed the order of how we prayed?
